New railcard will provide veterans and their families with a third off rail travel

Worcester Editorial 22nd Oct, 2020   0

A NEW government initiative will provide veterans and their families with a third off rail travel.

The ‘Veterans’ Railcard’ will discount all peak and off-peak fares, as well as travel for adult companions and children.

An estimated 830,000 veterans in the country, who are not eligible for existing railcards, will be able to get their hands on the new card from November 5.

The card itself pays tribute to the Royal Navy, RAF and Army using the colours featured on the veterans’ flag.

Captain Sir Tom Moore, who served in World War II and won the nation’s heart with his incredible fundraising efforts, was the first veteran to receive the railcard.

It will go on on sale at an introductory price of £21 until March 31, 2021.
