Get snap happy to help hospice

PHOTOGRAPHERS of all abilities are being asked to take pictures of what lockdown means to them to raise money for Primrose Hospice.

Moosecat Creative, based in Worcester, has launched Pic-A-Primrose asking for people to submit their lockdown pictures using the themes based on the charity’s strapline – care, compassion, community.

CEO Michele Lammas hopes to be able to display a selection of the photographs in a gallery later in the year.

Michele has stage four breast cancer and met with the Primrose Hospice team just before going into lockdown.

She explained: “Pic-A-Primrose is a chance to create a lockdown legacy as well as support a local charity which is continuing to provide care and support during the current crisis.

“I’m aware of the extra difficulties encountered by people who are isolated from friends and loved ones and wanted to create a way of re-connecting people online via a special lockdown gallery.

“The team at Moosecat Creative have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to help with the planning and logistics too.

“The pictures can be anything from someone being given a cup of tea to a shopping delivery.

“It is whatever sums up a moment that means care, compassion or community to the photographer. We are really grateful to Severn Arts for giving us a Creative Connections grant of £300 for the online gallery.”

Anyone is welcome to take part whether they are using a smartphone or professional camera to snap a picture which they feel sums up their time in lockdown.

After the photographs have been taken, they should be submitted for inclusion to the online Pic-A-Primrose gallery on the Moosecat Creative website.

Photographers can submit a few words to explain why they chose the pictures they have submitted which may be displayed alongside the pictures at the pop-up art gallery.

Sally Insley, fund-raising manager at Primrose Hospice, said: “It is going to be so interesting to see the pictures people submit to sum up their lockdown experience.

“We have seen an increase in demand for our services and this is a great way for Moosecat Creative to support the work we are doing.

“We are really grateful to the team and look forward to seeing what people have submitted.”
