Call for fresh volunteers to support festival

Rob George 7th Mar, 2020   0

VOLUNTEERS are being sought to play their part before and during one of highlights of the city’s packed festival calendar.

Organisers of the Worcester Festival have issued a rallying call for new recruits for this year’s showpiece which takes place from August 15 to 31.

From handing out event guides, marshalling bands, escorting Percy the Peacock, to helping with Shakespeare at the Cathedral there is something for everyone in the 2020 entertainment extravaganza.

Opportunities to volunteer ahead of the event include distributing the event guides throughout Worcestershire in venues such as cafe, hotels and libraries.

Aspiring volunteers can donate a few hours or an entire day to the event which is an integral part of the city’s summer programme.

Volunteer chief Ashley Dashwood said any time offered would be useful to organisers and warmly appreciated.

“I enjoy the festival because it is a great way to see old friends and meet new people. It is a great way to give back something to the community which gave me so much,” he said.

“The festival is such a popular event that people really appreciate the effort volunteers make to help it happen.

“It is just a lovely time of the year for me and one I look forward to. I would miss the festival very much if I were not able to take part.”
