Festive delights raise more than £2k for breast unit

Worcester Editorial 22nd Dec, 2019   0

A FESTIVE carol service in Pershore Abbey saw more than 200 music lovers raise cash for the Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven.

The festive event comprised not only carols but readings from former Breast Unit patients, also breast care nurse Rachel King, and consultant breast surgeons Steven Thrush and Rachel Bright-Thomas.

The service was led by the Rev Claire Lording and the Reverend Steve Dunton.  Mayor of Pershore Coun Chris Parsons attended with his wife Jan as did Coun Frances Smith (Chair of Wychavon District Council) who attended with her husband Coun John Smith.

Donations on the night raised £2,000 towards the work of the charity supporting those with breast cancer in Worcestershire.

Fiona Charny, chair of the Trustees for Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven said:  “Thank you to Pershore Abbey for their warm welcome, to all those who attended, our volunteers and everyone who supported our carol service.  From all the Breast Unit team, a huge thank you and we wish you all a merry Christmas.”
