Steve is the Man in the Middle

VISITORS to Croome will be able to learn more about what makes the Worcestershire man in a new show from a Worcester artist.

Steve Wilson will be performing ‘The Man in the Middle’ at a National Trust mansion house alongside the visual arts and films which also form part of his work.

The performance will tell the story of the project through narration, poetry, song and dance. Audiences will get the chance to see the existing art work by his collaborators Sarah Edwards and the films by Nicky Prestage.

Steve has been looking at the concept of ‘What is Worcester(shire) man’. He has been running workshops and performances with men of all ages in the locality of Worcestershire to further understand contemporary Worcestershire man, as opposed to ‘Worcestershire Woman’.

His performance at Croome will see him walking audiences around the sheds and films, telling the story of the project and interpreting it in his own unique way.

“The performance lasts approximately 45 minutes and involves walking around the site,” he said.

“They will be suitable for all but will at times address themes relating to mental health and aggression.”

The artworks are on display until June 30 with performances on June 15,16 and 22 at midday and 2.30pm.
