HUNDREDS of shoppers were on hand as Marks and Spencer opened the doors to its new foodhall on Blackpole Retail Park.

The retail giant unveiled its latest store last Wednesday (February 27) when store manager Andrew Ling cut the ribbon to welcome city shoppers. Mr Ling celebrates a quarter of a century with Marks and Spencer this month having worked in several stores in the local area, including M&S Malvern.

Celebrations also took place at Worcester children’s charity New Hope which has been named as the store’s charity of the year and will benefit from the store’s fund-raising events over the next 12 months.

“We’re excited to be part of the Worcester community, supporting amazing local charities such as New Hope, and we can’t wait to get to know our local customers,” Mr Ling said.

Emma Ross, said: “The atmosphere today been brilliant. I’ve come here with my mum and daughter Aura to stock up on all of our favourite products.”

The store is open from Monday to Saturday from 8am to 8pm and on Sunday between 10.30am and 4.30pm.
