ART and design students at the Heart of Worcestershire College have been creating new leather bound books this month as part of two new workshops.
The funding for the sessions with creative book-binder Emily Northen was given to the college by The Arts Society, Worcester.
Level two diploma students learned how to make the notebook in the first workshop on January 15.
The level three diploma students then created more traditional leather journals on January 22 through using long stitch sewing.
College employees also took part in both events as part of their Continuing Professional Development courses.
Art and design technician at the Heart of Worcestershire College Libby Lawrence-Fielden, said: “It was great to have a practical professional development session.
“I will look forward to passing on these techniques to students in the future.”
Arts work experience officer Kate Hutchings added the college was grateful to The Arts Society, Worcester, for the funding.
Student Luke Hilton said: “Emily was very patient with everyone.
“It was an excellent experience and she was the perfect person to teach us.”
