Mystery cash will pay for panto treats

A TRIO of recently bereaved families have been handed tickets to a Worcester theatre group’s traditional family pantomime as Jack and the Beanstalk takes to the Swan Theatre stage next month.

Siblings of former patients of Acorns Children’s Hospice will be among the audiences for the show, which runs from January 17 to 27, thanks to the kindness once again of a mystery benefactor who contacted Kays Theatre group.

Box Office manager Carole Langford said: “For the second year running I have received an envelope full of cash with the request it goes towards panto tickets for those in need.

“We have used the money to pay for three recently bereaved families to take siblings of former patients of Acorns Children’s Hospice.

“I have no idea who is donating the money, but, on behalf of the group, I would like to thank them and let them know their donation has been well spent and appreciated.”

Directed by long-standing member Tony Langford, this family favourite show features Barry North as Dame Trott with Oliver Roberts as Jack and Helen Willis as Lucy and Cath Skyrme as Fleshcreep.

New member Matt Street is Simon, Gary Kimber plays the Squire, the Giant is Andrew Dunkley with Sue Cassidy as Fairy Blossom.

Daisy is played by Sally Smith and Judy Garton, members of the Kays’ company, and the peformance will also award-winning dancers from Harlequin Stage School showcase their talents.

The show is once again under the leadership of musical director Stephen Watkins and follows in the footsteps of Kays recent NODA award for best pantomime.

Tickets are available from the Box Office on 01905 425299.
