VISITORS to The Hive can go back in time this October when the Worcestershire Archive and Archaeology Service hosts an archaeological tour of the site.
The event will be held between midday and 1pm next Saturday, October 27 with a walking tour which will allow residents of all ages to discover how the site has changed over time, from a Roman street to Civil War defences and Victorian cattle market.
Whilst taking in the history of the site, there is also an opportunity on the tour to see and handle finds from The Hive excavations.
Tickets cost £5. Visit www.thehiveworcester.org/explore-the-past-events for more.
CARING city Tesco staff raised £3,300 for Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life, it has been revealed.
This year, 146 colleagues from stores and distribution centres across Worcester joined women from all over the UK to take part in this year’s Race for Life events.
Race for Life is a series of women-only 5k, 10k and Pretty Muddy events which raises millions of pounds every year for vital research in the fight against cancer.
Since 2002 Tesco has raised more than £45million to help fund Cancer Research UK’s vital work.
Money raised through Race for Life helps Cancer Research UK to fund long-term research and pioneering trials, leading to new tests and kinder treatments.
FIRE chiefs have urged residents to make sure their alarms are up to date, in the right place and to test them every week.
This month, Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service is encouraging everyone to make sure they have enough smoke alarms in their home and that they work.
A smoke alarm can give someone the few extra seconds they need to escape in a fire.
While the majority of homes across the country now have an alarm fitted, most people are not aware that the average alarm has a lifespan of just ten years and then needs replacing.
