A CITY church will come alive with its very own Last Night of the Proms to celebrate the life of a dedicated Worcester music lover.
Opera Worcester, formerly Great Witley Operatic Society, has been asked take part in the event on Saturday (September 22) in memory of the late Ian Pattison, who organised the popular event at St George’s Church in Barbourne for almsot 20 years.
Before stepping down in 2014, Ian’s concerts consistently attracted packed audiences with music lovers drawn to the programme on offer from one of the city’s most well-known and highly respected figures.
As well as being devoted to his choral music, Ian was also a very fine trumpet player and had a fine tenor voice.
For years he played in local orchestras and was the regular trumpet player in the pit orchestras for the former Great Witley Operatic Society and Worcester and Tenbury Operatic shows, eventually becoming musical director for Tenbury.
The concert also features the Magdalene Orchestra and is in aid of the St George’s Church Organ Restoration Fund.
Tickets are available on the door or on 01905 28045 and are £12, £8 for students and free for under 16s free.
