England football legends help to spread awareness

Worcester Editorial 23rd Jun, 2018   0

FORMER England stars Steve Bull and Tony Woodcock shared football memories and insight at a PSA testing event co-hosted by Worcestershire Ambassadors and Worcestershire Advance.

Monday’s sold out event at Worcester Racecourse included full coverage of England’s 2-1 victory over Tunisia in their opening World Cup Group G game.

Wolves legend Bull and ex-Nottingham Forest and European Cup winning striker Woodcock provided half time and post-match analysis of the performance by Gareth Southgate’s men and MC and BBC Hereford and Worcester presenter Dave Bradley, a survivor of prostate cancer, hosted a lively Q and A session with the former internationals before kick-off.

Sixty-one PSA blood tests were carried out on the night, bringing the total of men tested at Worcestershire Ambassadors events to 5,000 over the past three years. Tony Woodcock was among those tested.

Phil Dutton, chairman of Worcestershire Ambassadors, said: “England’s late winner and the total of £2,200 raised for Worcestershire Prostate Cancer Awareness Group ensured that the first football event we’ve staged was a highly successful one.

“We’d like to thank everyone who came along including companies who brought several employees and our special guests Steve and Tony, who stayed long after the match to chat to attendees and make sure everyone had a photo or autograph.”
