Rolling road closures this Saturday as Women’s Tour cycles through

Worcester Editorial 12th Jun, 2018   0

ROLLING road closures will be in force when the Ovo Energy Women’s Tour sweeps through Worcestershire on Saturday.

A clutch of World and Olympic champions will compete in the event with the finale on Hylton Road which will be closed from 4.45am to 5.30pm on the day.

Police expect the rolling road closures to be no more than 30 minutes at the most.

Chief Insp Jim Baker said: “We’re delighted to be supporting the women’s tour in Worcestershire; it’s a great event for the county and we hope as many people as possible will come out to support the riders.

“There will be road closures in place throughout the day to allow the race to pass through and we’d urge people to plan their journeys accordingly.”

Hundreds of spectators are expected to line the route to cheer the riders on and there’s no better way to get to a viewing point than by bike.

The race starts in Evesham at 10.15am and after racing through the Cotswolds and The Lenches starts approaching Worcester in the early afternoon:

Rolling road closures will begin at about 2.10pm at:

B4636 Nunnery Way (to Pershore) from the Crowle roundabout to Market roundabout

A4440 Market roundabout to A4440 Swinesherd Way roundabout

Swinesherd Way roundabout to A44 Hylton Road at the junction with Henwick Road
