YOUNG mathematicians at Blessed Edward Oldcorne Catholic College had all the right answers when they competed in the Junior Maths Challenge, run by the UK Mathematics Trust.
Year eight youngsters Hans Atendido achieved ‘Best in School’ in the yearly event and scored highly enough to qualify for the prestigious ‘Kangaroo’ invitation-only follow-up competition.
Hans was among seven pupils to earn a Gold certificate alongside Frederic Kennedy, Jack Sweeney, Robert Kelly, Sian Dalgleish and Niamh McClarey while Mariya Kappen was the only year seven pupil to achieve the honour.
A further 12 pupils won silver certificates and 28 won bronze.
