YOUNGSTERS at Carnforth School have been learning more about scientists, engineers, mathematicians and designers with a series of topics on STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.

Children in Reception and Key Stage 1 have been on a trip to the Bristol Aerospace Museum to look at different elements of vehicles in flight while Key Stage 2 pupils came out on top in an engineering competition held at the Hive.

Their science lessons saw youngsters take their inspiration from the film Taking Flight as they learned more about materials and electricity while the popular book Mrs Armitage on Wheels saw youngsters tasked with devising a host of new vehicles from moon buggies to viking ships for the main character.

Parents have also been invited into school to view the efforts in the STEM showcase and celebrate their children’s designs.
