PATIENTS and visitors at the Elgar Unit on Newtown Road and the Worcester City inpatient unit can now access free patient Wi-Fi during their stay.
Feedback from patients and families revealed a need for improved internet access for those staying in and visiting the county’s community hospital and recovery units, run by Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust. The roll out is part of the Trust’s overall plans to improve patient experience and could support patients and families in providing more real-time feedback on the quality of the care they are receiving.
In addition to services in Worcester, Wi-Fi will be rolled out over the coming weeks for patients at the community hospitals in Malvern, Bromsgrove, Pershore and Evesham, along with the trust run mental health recovery unit in Redditch.
The trust was one of only six NHS trusts awarded the accolade of Global Digital Exemplar for Mental Health, the award is a result of recent IT developments, as well as the trusts overall performance and financial sustainability.
