TRANSPORT chiefs will be on hand tomorrow to answer questions about bus timetable changes to services affecting Henwick Park and Henwick this weekend.
Bus operator First Worcester’s managing director Nigel Eggleton and head of operations Sarah East are holding a ‘tea and pastry’ morning on a bus at Martley Road shops for residents to attend and talk about their local bus services.
They will also be joined by local councillors Simon Geraghty and Alan Amos who are attending to answer question
about local transport provision in the area.
Under the timetable changes being rolled out on Saturday, buses will now operate up to every 20 minutes during the day – an increase from the previous 30 minutes.
There are new route numbers, 31U during University term times and 31A during University vacations. Customers for Henwick can also use route 31 and all buses will now depart from the Stand E at Crowngate Bus Station.
Surveyors, provided by Worcestershire County Council, have been handing out information on bus about the changes and the upcoming event. Timetables include full route details and details of University vacation times.
There will also be an opportunity to talk about the recent introduction of contactless payments with more and more people paying for travel using their debit and credit cards and mTickets where people can buy, store and use the bus using their mobile phone.
Commuters can also find out about the weight limit restriction imposed by Network Rail with the bridge on Comer Road which means only smaller vehicles can operate over it.
“The restriction has caused a few problems with capacity on some buses, especially at busy times, which is one reason why the frequency is being increased. Worcestershire County Council are aware and will be discussing the situation with Network Rail to try and get the sanction lifted,” Mr Eggleton said.
Sarah East, Head of Operations said: “I am pleased to announce the upcoming improvements to frequencies on our services to Henwick Park and the University. This change is a great example of how customer feedback can make a real difference to how we run a service into a local community to meet the demands of customers travel requirements”.
Changes to buses which serve the University will also be introduced on Saturday.
