Elsie’s tale takes to the stage

THE HIVE will have spectators in stitches next month when it welcomes a nostalgic new play to its stage.

Rural touring theatre company Pentabus returns for one night only on March 9 with its highly acclaimed play, ‘Here I Belong.’

The play is a funny and moving story about a rural community and one woman, Elsie.

It charts the history of the village over 70 years and concludes on Elsie’s 90th birthday celebration.

Performed in a cabaret style, the action happens all around the audience with changing décor and actors, and includes cake.

Writer Matt Hartley, said: “Elsie has lived in the village all her life. She’s seen elections, weddings, wars, people coming, people going. We tell her story over six decades – from the coronation in 1953 to her birthday party today.”

Tickets can be booked at www.thehiveworcester.org/whats-on or at the Hive in person and cost £10 (£6).
