A HARD-WORKING Worcester Sixth Form College teacher has been shortlisted for a national award in recognition of going the extra mile for his students.

Wes Davis has made the final reckoning in the Times Educational Supplement Awards ‘Teacher of the Year’ category.

The awards ceremony will be held at the prestigious Grosvenor House Hotel in London’s Park Lane on Friday, February 23.

College chiefs nominated Wes for his exceptional examination results each year and for his outstanding commitment and contribution to the development of teaching and learning strategies.

His nomination reads: “His contribution to positive changes in teaching and learning across the college and beyond and his commitment to continual investigation of new learning techniques is exceptional.

“We are in no doubt that his approach is a major factor in the outstanding examination results that he achieves each year.”

He has been warmly praised for voluntarily giving up time in holidays, weekends and evenings to offer extra support and revision sessions for students, many of whom where keen to back his nomination.

Principal Michael Kitcatt said: “Wes is a sparkling example of all that is good about the teaching profession: totally dedicated, innovative and inspirational.

“As well as being an outstanding teacher of his subject, he has helped to spread good practice throughout the college.

“His recognition for this award is thoroughly deserved and we wish him every success at the ceremony.”
