THE MAYOR of Worcester has lent his support to a new scheme which will offer training and support to local voluntary organisations.
CROWN, Community Regeneration Organisations Worcestershire North, has secured funding from the Big Lottery Fund so Worcester churches, charities, voluntary and community organisations can benefit from a range of support services.
The scheme will offer training to small local voluntary organisations who rely on the goodwill of volunteers to survive.
Training and support for those who are setting up community organisations will also be offered in a series of workshops covering topics such as running a management committee, making funding applications and managing volunteers.
The first workshops are already underway and will run throughout the first part of 2018.
Mayor of Worcester, Coun Steve Mackay, said: “Volunteers are the lifeblood of many groups and communities in our city and that is why I have chosen volunteering as my mayoral theme for the year.
“I am delighted to be supporting CROWN’s scheme and grateful to the Big Lottery Fund for their support.”
All training and support is free and is funded thanks to the grant from the National Lottery.
Anyone interested is asked to e-mail [email protected] with the name of their organisation, location and a one sentence explanation of their work.
A limited number of places are available so those interested as being asked to register as soon as possible.
