CARING members of St Peter’s Parish Council marked the success of this year’s parish festival by handing over a cheque for £510 to Acorns Children’s Hospice

The amount was raised by the Tesco community team running the barbeque on behalf of the Parish Council at the event in Power Park in July.

Parish councillors agreed the sum should be donated to Acorns as a local charity following the event which celebrated its fourth year.

Organiser Sian Archer, said: “We’re all thrilled with how St Peter’s Festival 2017 went, now affectionately referred to as SPF17!

“From the weather behaving beautifully, to the incredible turn out from so many members of the Parish, it was really an awesome day”.

Alex Booth, chair of the festival organising committee added: “This £510 donation from the Parish Council to Acorns Hospice is a fitting finale to an exciting and challenging eight months of planning.

“The festival continues to grow and evolve every year and represents a rare opportunity for the local community to come together and enjoy a day of mostly free activities in one of our most loved parks.

“Huge thanks to everyone involved, especially the Tesco St Peter’s team and the parish and city council for making the 2017 Festival one to remember”.
