WORCESTER has been voted the happiest city in the UK, a survey has found.
The Unbroken Britain survey 2017, carried out by Provident Personal Credit, polled 2,830 people from across the UK and the Faithful City came out on top head of other contenders such as London, Manchester, Newcastle, Aberystwyth and Gloucester.
Residents were asked to rate on a scale of 1 to 10 on how they felt within their community, and Worcester hit the top spot for happiness with a rating of 7.83.
The Faithful City also received a top three ranking for its welcome, politeness and friendliness.
Reacting to the survey results, Worcester’s MP Robin Walker said: “It’s fantastic to hear that Worcester has been recognised as the happiest place in the UK – although it should come as no surprise to those of us who have always known it to be a welcoming, diverse and friendly place to live.
“The positive spirit of the city is just one of the many ‘pull factors’ that draw people to live, study and work here. Along with our green spaces, excellent schools, rich history and strong local economy, this spirit makes Worcester a truly attractive place for residents and visitors alike.”
