A CAMPAIGN to help Worcester party-goers remove themselves from uncomfortable situations is being supported by pubs and nightclubs across the city.
Student services staff at the University of Worcester have been working with Worcester City Council and Night Safe to bring the ‘Ask for Angela’ campaign to city centre venues, as part of the Safer Worcester Partnership.
The campaign aims to enable students or members of the public who find themselves in an uncomfortable situation in participating bars or restaurants, to access help to remove themselves in a safe and discreet manner.
Whether it is an inappropriate comment, unwanted attention or if someone finds themselves uncomfortable in a situation, they can approach a member of staff and ‘Ask for Angela’.
The member of staff will know they are requesting help and will assist them in removing them from the situation, discreetly and without too much fuss.
Venues already participating in the campaign include Tramps, Velvet, Mode, Alexanders, The Crown, Heroes, The Royal Exchange and McDonald’s, on The Cross.
The national campaign, which was developed by Hayley Childs on behalf of Lincolnshire County Council in 2016, is part of a wider project called #NoMore which tackles sexual violence and abuse.
