THE CAST of a Worcester theatrical school took a break from rehearsals to present a cheque of £750 to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).

Members of the Worcester Operatic and Dramatic Society (WODS) recently donated the cash, which was raised during their 125th anniversary April production of ‘HMS Pinafore and Other Infernal Nonsense’, to John Bartholomew, of the RNLI.

The group are currently rehearsing for ‘Made in Dagenham’ the musical, a true story about the claim for equal pay by the machine girls at the Ford Dagenham plant in 1968, which will be staged at the Swan Theatre from Tuesday, October 17 to Saturday, October 21.

The musical is being supported by Bristol Street Motors and WODS’ selected charity for the show is Pancreatic Cancer UK.

A WODS spokesperson said: “The RNLI is the most appropriate charity for this donation because 2017 marks the 150th anniversary of the people of Worcester raising funds for the first ever lifeboat at Bembridge. The boat was appropriately named ‘City of Worcester’.”

Call the Swan Theatre’s Box Office on 01905 611427 to book tickets for Made in Dagenham or for more information.
