A CARING St Peter’s widower has once again put his best foot forward in memory of his late wife to raise cash for St Richard’s Hospice.
Bill Richardson laced up his walking boots to walk the 30-mile Birmingham to Worcester canal path for the third time in aid of the charity.
The Wildwood Drive hospice cared for Mr Richardson’s late wife, Brenda, before she passed away in 2012.
Following her death, the kind-hearted 68-year-old has tackled the challenge three times to raise funds in her memory and was joined on his latest adventure by his daughter’s dog, Arthur.
Taking to the towpath is just one of many fund-raising efforts undertaken by the pensioner who has also completed the Worcestershire Way Walk, the Malvern Hills Challenge and the Clee Hill Walk.
“I am very grateful for the many donations received towards the excellent work that St Richards carries out every day of the year and I would urge others to do what they can to support this wonderful cause,” he added.
Currently Mr Richardson has raised around £900 in sponsorship so far for achieving the walk.
His former employee Barclays pledged to match fund the donations up to his original target of £750, meaning that his final total will amount to more than £1,600.
