RESIDENTS at a Worcester care home embarked on a ‘virtual’ voyage around the world as part of a summer cruise week.
Sanctuary Care’s Juniper House Residential Care Home, in St John’s, gave its residents a taste of flavours and cultures from different destinations across the globe, including the USA, Mexico, Greece, Italy and Australia last week.
In Australia, residents at the Oak View Way home took part in themed arts and craft sessions, before an animal handling session from Zoolab saw some Aussie creatures and critters, including a tarantula and snake, visit the home.
For their day in Greece, the residents enjoyed ‘Greek’ Olympic games, where they went head to head in fun competitions.
Charlotte Berisford, Juniper House’s activities leader, said: “Our residents thought the week was absolutely lovely. Some of them were completely amazed by the animals.
They also really enjoyed the food, especially the churros from their day in Mexico.”
The care home is also hosting a Summer Fête event this Saturday from 2pm to 4pm, where visitors can enjoy live music, stalls, games, a bouncy castle and an auction.
There will also be cakes, ice creams and a BBQ and all proceeds will go towards funding future activities for the residents.
