A UNIVERSITY of Worcester student has launched his own cleaning business after his mum was left horrified by the state of his student house.
When 20-year-old Gabriel Pereira’s mother made the off-the-cuff remark about the untidiness of his accommodation, she probably expected it to go in one ear and out the other.
But instead, Gabriel, who is studying for a degree in human nutrition at the University, had a light-bulb moment and is now running his own cleaning business, FINECLEAN, for students, landlords and businesses.
Having initially started the cleaning service in January, Gabriel’s business has since secured two major contracts in the local community.
Gabriel is now considering switching his degree to study business, in the hope it will help him further FINECLEAN.
“Cleaning isn’t always top of your agenda when living away from home for the first time. My mum was horrified when she came to visit my student house,” said Gabriel.
“She suggested I should invest in a cleaner and at first I thought that was a good idea, but soon found many of the companies just didn’t respond or were really over subscribed. So I thought why not set-up my own?
“As a student, I know having a cleaner is a luxury. That’s why I’ve created packages specifically aimed at students which won’t break the bank.
“My aim is to have 15 commercial companies on my books by the end of the year, as well as a good client-base of local students and landlords,” he added.
