Bright sparks win electrical awards

A PAIR of city bright sparks have scooped a prestigious gong at the annual Electrical Wholesaler (EW) Awards.

Jolanta Brocka and Oliver Burness, who both work at electrical supplier Newey and Eyre, on Tolladine Road, recently won the Training Excellence Award after impressing a panel of judges made up of experts from across the electrical industry.

The pair joined Newey and Eyre on an apprentice scheme in 2015, before both going on to secure permanent positions at the branch.

Organised by Datateam Business Media and supported by The Electrical Industries Charity, Electrical Times and Voltimum, the awards are designed to recognise and highlight the achievements and services of electrical wholesalers and manufacturers.

David Allen, Newey and Eyre store manager, said: “When both Oliver and Jolanta joined our apprentice programme they had absolutely no knowledge of the electrical industry.

“However, their drive and commitment to get to grips with the entire business from sales, customer service and even finance has seen them both become a true asset to the business.

“It’s therefore much deserved to see their continued hard work recognised at the EW Awards. Their win really is testament to their ambition to become the absolute best at what they do, and we as a business are delighted to see them win the Training Excellence Award.”

Mike Gammon, EW Awards event manager, said: “I would like to give a heartfelt thanks to the industry for the support they’ve given to this prestigious event.

“All of our finalists should be congratulated on their achievements over the past year and I hope they continue to excel in their business going forward.”
