STAFF at a Warndon-based house provider raised £6,000 for charity by taking part in a gruelling outdoor challenge in the Peak District.
A team from Lioncourt Homes recently completed Habitat for Humanity’s ‘Hope Challenge’, which involved designing and building an innovative shelter to live in for two nights in the Peak District, as well as taking part in a 30km trek over steep hills in poor weather conditions.
Habitat for Humanity is one of the world’s leading non-government shelter organisations, with a mission to build safe environments where families and communities who live in poverty can thrive.
Colin Cole, chief executive of Lioncourt Homes, said: “We’re extremely proud of our team participating in this fantastic challenge for such a worthwhile cause.
“The Hope Challenge is an opportunity for us to help to break the cycle of poverty and contribute to transforming the lives of some of the world’s most vulnerable people.
“In our business, we put a roof over the head of our customers and through the Hope Challenge, we’ll be helping to put a roof over the head of the most poverty-stricken people in the world.”
Tum Kazunga, deputy CEO of Habitat for Humanity Great Britain, said: “It was a privilege to have Lioncourt Homes take part in this year’s Hope Challenge event.
“Not only did they eagerly take on each challenge with a smile, but by raising £6,000, they also helped us towards supporting more families around the world who don’t have access to a safe and decent place to call home.”
