CHURCH members from across the county will take part in a three-day pilgrimage to Worcester Cathedral to form the shape of a cross.
Diocese of Worcester church members will form groups north, south, east and west of the city to create the shape of a cross as they begin their journey to Worcester Cathedral today (Thursday).
The pilgrimage is part of the Thy Kingdom Come global wave of prayer, where those walking will pray for each of the areas that they pass through before arriving at the Cathedral at 4pm on Saturday afternoon, where there will be activities and food on College Green.
There will also be a special service of prayer and praise in the Cathedral at 7pm.
The longest journey to the cathedral is from Dudley, which will see Bishop Graham leading a group from the Ascension in Wall Heath at 3pm on Thursday afternoon, whilst Bishop John will start walking with a group from Knightwick Chapel at 10am on Saturday morning.
Jonathan Kimber, director of ministry and discipleship, will be walking the southern route starting at Upton Church at 10am and Nikki Groake, Archdeacon of Dudley, will be walking the eastern route starting at 10am at Flyford Flavell.
Sue Adeney, a church member in Hanley Castle, said: “We’re looking forward to covering the whole diocese in a wave of prayer, from Wall Heath in the far north to Bushley in the south.
“We hope people will come and join us for some or all of one of the walks. The final hour should be special as people gather at the edge of Worcester and converge together at the Cathedral.”
