BIG blue pants were exchanged in rapid fashion as fund-raising relay runners rushed to the finish line at Worcester Racecourse.
Competitors ran down the racecourse’s final furlong in the Go Dad Run Big Blue Pants Relay on Friday, swapping their novelty Y-fronts over their shorts as they went.
After a nail-biting sprint finish, the On On Together team scooped the title, closely followed by #WorcestershireHour and The Sanlam Three.
The relay raised more than £550 for St Richard’s Hospice and was a warm-up event for the Go Dad Run at Worcester Racecourse on Sunday, July 23 for which St Richard’s has been chosen as one of the charity partners.
Rachel Jones, fund-raising manager at St Richard’s Hospice, said: “Thank you to everyone who took part in the relay – they were such great sports. Some found exchanging the big pants quickly quite a challenge!
“A big thank-you also to our volunteers collecting around the course, helping to raise money for the hospice. Overall it was a really fun and successful event.
“We’re delighted to be a charity partner for the Go Dad Run in July, and we can’t wait to see everyone sporting their big blue pants for good causes.”
Jenny Cheshire, executive director of Worcester Racecourse, said: “The relay was very successful and we are looking forward to the race event in July.”
For the third annual Worcester Go Dad Run, hundreds of men and boys will pull on big blue pants over their shorts and run a 5K or 10K around the racecourse to raise awareness of men’s health issues and funds for important charities.
The July event is being organised in partnership with the national Go Dad Run race, launched by former Welsh athlete and TV celebrity Colin Jackson CBE.
Along with St Richard’s Hospice, the project is supported by Prostate Cancer UK, Bowel Cancer UK, Orchid and CALM.
Anyone who pledges to raise £75 or more for St Richard’s will win a free place.
