Cash from former Mayor's project to help more city groups

Worcester Editorial 7th Dec, 2016   0

A POPULAR project run by a former Mayor of Worcester has broadened its appeal to aid more community groups in the city.

Come On In was set up by Coun Alan Amos in 2014 to help reduce the number of elderly people in Worcester who were experiencing loneliness.

But now the project has broadened its appeal and is helping organisations access funding for other needs within their local communities.

First up is St Clements Church which has just received a £10,000 award to develop its youth activities.

Youth worker Heidi Murphy has welcomed Year 10 pupils from nearby Christopher Whitehead School who are looking at how a church survives in the current day and age as part of their GCSEs.

Coun Amos, said: “Not only is this another £10,000 for the city of Worcester but it is £10,000 going to an organisation who will use the award wisely and ensure we see good value for money.”
