ONE OF England Netball’s most celebrated players is holding a star-studded testimonial match in Worcester for charity.
Pamela Cookey, who is now director of netball at Worcester’s new professional team Severn Stars, is hosting the all-star match at the University of Worcester Arena on
Saturday, December 17, in aid of Cancer Research and domestic violence charity, Refuge.
The former England captain, who is also a two-time Commonwealth bronze medallist and seven-time Superleague winner, will be joined on court by BBC Radio 5 Live presenter, Caroline Barker, Olympic 400m medallist, Katharine Merry and current England netball players, Jo Harten, Sarah Bayman and Serena Guthrie.
Former England mid-courter, Tamsin Greenway, will also be dusting off her trainers to compete in the match, along with Severn Stars’ recent signing, Laura Malcolm and World Indoor Champion 2016, Clare Elsey.
Pamela said: “I’m very excited to mark the end of my playing career amongst friends, family and netball fans.
“England Netball, Team Bath and Surrey Storm have been a big part of my journey and I now look forward to my off-court role with the Severn Stars. This is a chance for me to thank them all.”
Sarah said: “I can’t wait to play in this testimonial match to celebrate Pam’s incredible career. A fun and memorable night seems like the perfect way to salute one of the greatest players in English netball history.”
Katharine said: “I’m so excited to take to the court with a legend. It’s an honour to play in Pamela’s testimonial. It’ll be great fun for important causes.”
