Man left with stab wounds after balaclava burglars raid Worcester home

Worcester Editorial 28th Nov, 2016   0

TWO burglars wearing balaclavas forced their way into a house in Worcester and attacked a man leaving him with stab wounds.

It happened at about 11pm last Friday (November 25) at a property on Homestead Avenue.

Once inside, the two men dressed in black, were disturbed by a man and woman living there. The man was then assaulted by the offenders.

The two burglars then left through the front door and fled the area.

A man in his 30s suffered injuries to his hands and shoulder and was taken to hospital for treatment for suspected stab wounds that are not described as life threatening at this time.

Detective Constable Vanessa Conde of West Mercia Police said: “I would like to firstly reassure the local community that incidents of this nature are rare.

“We will be conducting reassurance patrols in the area and are currently treating this as an isolated incident.

“This has obviously caused a great deal of distress to the occupants of the house, who thankfully were not injured more seriously. An axe was recovered from the scene and detectives are currently following a number of lines of enquiry.

“We would like to speak to anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area at the time and particularly anybody who may have seen a white car driving in the Snowshill Close area without lights on.

“The car is described as being a similar size and shape to a Volkswagen Golf and we would also like to hear from anyone who may have CCTV footage of the incident.”

Anyone with  information that could help the investigation is urged to call police on 101, quoting incident number 839s of 25 November.

Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, or via their website.
