A CARE worker from Worcester has been chosen from more than 4,600 employees to win a national award celebrating her kindness.
Rashida Begum, who works at Red Hill care home, was presented with the Kindness Award at Shaw healthcare’s annual Shaw Star Awards.
The support worker joined the home last year and has since made a big impression, with judges commending her friendly nature and trusting relationships with the residents.
Ms Begum said: “Kindness to me means doing everything I can to make my residents’ day enjoyable, whether that be trying to help them with any issues they may be facing or just having a chat about their own personal interests.
“I can’t think of any other way that I would treat our residents, so to be highlighted for my work at the Shaw Star Awards took me completely by surprise and I’m extremely grateful of everyone who made the event happen.”
More than 200 people gathered at The Heythrop Resort and Spa in Oxfordshire for the ceremony, which aims to reward and celebrate the achievements of outstanding staff members from amongst the 4,600 care workers across Shaw’s 80 UK facilities.
Jeremy Nixey, chief executive of Shaw healthcare, said: “We’re now in the eighth year of the Shaw Star Awards, it’s a night of celebrating the real difference that these incredible individuals make to the quality of care provided, whether in a small, everyday task or the overseeing of an entire home.”
