A SECOND unexploded WW2 bomb has been safely detonated in Norton.
British Transport Police were informed of the discovery yesterday afternoon (Thursday) at an old army training ground near the Norton rail line.
The Bomb Disposal Team safely detonated the mortar at around 8.45am today (Friday).

A spokesperson from the British Transport Police, said: “The second unexploded bomb was safely detonated at around 8.45am. The train line has been declared safe. It briefly stopped while the donation was in progress.
“The line is now running again.”
The Bomb Disposal Team have now left the area:
Second mortar safely detonated and army disposal have now left the scene. Minimal disruption to services of around five minutes.

The second discovery comes after Network Rail workers found an unexploded, historic mortar bomb in a field near to Brockhill Lane and the old Norton Barracks in Norton yesterday morning (Thursday).
The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) attended the area and at around 11.30am a controlled explosion took place.
