Fund-raisers spy a chance to have a ball

A BOND-themed ball in aid of Headway Worcestershire and Cystic Fibrosis raised more than £3,600 to be split equally between the charities.

The event, organised by Samantha Thomas and Donna Wood, took place at the Pear Tree Inn near Worcester and left James Bond loving guests ‘shaken and stirred’.

Showgirls volunteered for the good causes alongside Steve Maitland and the Big Band who hosted a Michael Buble tribute as well as a casino.

Sammy, who works at Headway Worcestershire as well as for a wedding company on her weekends, said: “I wanted to organise a charity event for Headway because I can see the benefits it would have for those affected by brain injury.

“Working every day with those affected by brain injury brings you a lot of gratitude for the things you do have, and I just wanted to give something back. “

“I am glad we managed to raise £1,830 for Headway alone, and I am extremely grateful to all who donated goods, vouchers for the raffle and prizes for the online auction.”

Kathryn Davis, CEO at Headway Worcestershire said: “We are delighted to see such commitment from Samantha as well as with the sum raised.

“We are all moved by the journeys of those with acquired brain injury follow, and when they inspire such support it’s incredible.

“The money raised will be used to ensure the survivors and carers are well looked after and receive the support they need to improve their lives after such tragedy.”
