Success stories at Warndon Library

Worcester Editorial 26th Oct, 2016   0

WARNDON Library has celebrated another successful year of its summer reading challenge.

During a presentation ceremony on Tuesday (October 19), certificates and medals were handed out to the children who completed the ‘Big Friendly Read’ Summer Reading Challenge.

Of the 91 children who started, 73 completed the annual challenge to read six books over the summer.

Coun Alan Amos attended the ceremony to present the awards and said: “This is the eighth time I have presented the certificates and medallions for the annual Summer Reading Challenge in Warndon and it is always one of the highlights of the year for me.

“Given all the distractions of modern life, it is wonderful that so many children can get to read six books and it is a real pleasure to see them enjoying and treasuring the skill of reading. They will benefit from it throughout their lives.

“I should like to thank and congratulate the parents for supporting and encouraging their children in this very useful and important achievement and I would also like to thank the library and school staff who organize this event and encourage youngsters to love books.”
