NEW technology has been installed at a bus stop in Worcester which will tell passengers exactly when their bus will arrive.
A solar powered display board, which is the first of its kind in the country, has been introduced at Wildwood at Worcester Country Park and will provide ‘real time information’.
Worcestershire County Council teamed up with supplier 21st Century plc in order to power the LCD display through solar power.
Coun Anthony Blagg, Cabinet Member for Environment said: “This will be a great improvement for passengers, who need real time information, not just in the city but across the county. Until now this has just not been feasible.
“By using solar power, there are significant benefits in power consumption which is halved from 55W to 22W and the system includes saving mode so the display is only active when movement is detected and a sleep feature.”
Further displays are now being planned, with the next being tested along the main artery routes.
