ASTRONOMERS, space authors and rocket scientists are set to gather at The Hive for Space Night next week.

This free event on Wednesday, October 5, from 5pm to 8pm, will include a live rocket launch, an opportunity to try out super powerful telescopes and a chance to learn all about rocket building.

Visitors will also be able to enter a competition to build a model spaceship for a chance to win space goodies.

Spaceflight UK’s space expert, Jerry Stone will deliver a fun and inspiring ‘did you know?’ collection of stories about space exploration, while Astro-Info Service’s Dave Shayler will explain how and why we go into space and what we do when we are there.

Janine Downes, library services manager at The Hive, said: “Space Night is a great event for all the family. What makes it so popular with visitors, young and old, is that there are some really hands-on activities and fascinating talks from experts in the field.

“Visitors can quiz space enthusiasts and experts about the moon and all things space!”

As well as exploring interactive displays and talks, tickets are available for Mad Science’s NASA endorsed show at 4.45pm and 5.30pm.

Tickets cost £3.50 for adults and £3 for children. Visit www.thehiveworcester.org/events to find out more.
