MORE than 100 families from across the county visited the Worcestershire Royal Hospital to commemorate those who have donated organs to save lives.
The ceremony was held last Saturday, September 10 when loved ones of both those who had given organs and those who had received the generous donations attended to pay their respects and show their gratitude.
A plaque was unveiled to ensure those who gave to other patients would not be forgotten.
Rev David Southall led the commemoration for the donors who he said ‘Gave the wonderful gift of life’.
“It was humbling to be involved in the blessing of this Organ Donor Memorial, so many wonderful people came along with moving and beautiful stories,” he added.
The event also heard from the Worcestershire Organ Donation committee’s outgoing Chair, Michael Amies who gave thanks to all those who have signed up to the register, and emphasised the on-going importance of organ donation.
There was a fantastic turnout from both families and hospital staff at the event despite the poor weather.
