MORE than 500 people attended the 2016 Chamber Business Awards to celebrate the success, innovation and hard work of businesses in the county.

The award ceremony on Thursday, June 9 at the University of Worcester Arena, saw Worcester businesses recognised for their commitment to innovation, sustainability and responsibility.

Waste Spectrum Environmental Limited won the ‘Exporter of the Year’ award, Solar Sentry won the ‘Most Promising New Business of the Year’ award and Royal Grammar School Worcester won the ‘Education and Business Partnership’ award.

One major highlight of the evening was keynote speaker Colin Jackson, Olympic 110m hurdle silver medallist and world record holder, who captivated and entertained the audience.

A special award was also given to Cecil Duckworth for his ‘outstanding’ contribution to business, which is highlighted in his significant roles with Worcester Bosch, Worcester Warriors and the Duckworth Trust.

More than £4,000 was raised for charity by the event’s attendees, which will be split equally between #jsyoucandoit, Go Dad Run, Megan Baker House and The Prince’s Trust.
