CARING volunteers brought locals together once again for the annual Friends of Diglis Fields ‘Big Lunch’.
It provides a chance to share food in a free pot luck lunch and meet new people. Although dark clouds threatened, the weather held off and hundreds of people enjoyed the food and conversation, plus a chance to win something on the tombola.
The bouncy castle and face painting attracted lots of youngsters, and Worcester and District Model Engineers ran their ever-popular trains.
Francis Lankester, Chairman of Friends of Diglis Fields, said: “Once again we had great help from Worcester City Council’s wardens who also promoted ‘bee homes’ we can put in the garden to protect our wildlife.
“Donations, sponsorship and prizes were received from Gordon Lutton solicitors, Worcester Play Council, PCA Predict, David Lloyd’s and Worcestershire County Cricket Club.
“Worcester Warriors, One Stop St Peters, Albion Foundation, Tesco St Peter’s, Co-op Bath Road, Bath Road Chippy, The Entertainer and Commandery service station also contributed to a wonderful day and helped to keep this a free event,” he added.
