Weather warning for heavy rain issued for Worcester

Worcester Editorial 14th Jun, 2016 Updated: 19th Oct, 2016   0

A YELLOW weather warning for heavy showers which could lead to localised flooding in Worcester has been issued by the Met Office.

Forecasters have said the warning will remain in force from 10am this morning (Tuesday) until 10pm on Thursday (June 16).

Heavy showers and thunderstorms could lead to some localised flooding in the Vale as well as disruption to travel.

The Met Office’s Chief Forecaster said: “As with most recent days, temperatures will rise, triggering some heavy downpours.

“These may locally produce 15 to 25 mm of rainfall in an hour, bringing the risk of flooding, especially if affecting urban areas.”

West Midlands Ambulance Service is warning drivers not to drive through flood water if it is more than 10cm deep.
