GOLF fanatics from across the UK came together for a charity event which raised £3,600 for a special needs school in Worcester.

The Charity Golf Day, which was sponsored by N.A.L Ltd of Worcester, saw 14 teams from across England, Scotland and Ireland come together to raise funds for Fort Royal Primary School.

Hosted by Ombersley Golf Club, the teams played 18 holes and prizes were given for a hole in one or longest putt.

Feargal O’Connell, from N.A.L ltd, said: “It was great to see so many companies and individuals supporting such a great cause.

“The course at Ombersley was superb and we raised £3,600 for our charity, The Friends of Fort Royal. Parent, Ed Gallagher and his daughter Orla were instrumental in helping set up the day along with Margaret Jones, the grants administrator at the school.”

A raffle and an auction also took place with items donated by clubs, businesses and shops around the city.

Ed Francis, Headteacher, said: “A huge thank you to all who contributed to the day. The money raised will go towards new plans to develop our outdoor learning opportunities at the school”.
