Apprentices reel in praise for film promoting charity group

Worcester Editorial 4th Jun, 2016 Updated: 19th Oct, 2016   0

A GROUP of apprentices have taken to the red carpet for an official unveiling of their promotional film for a St John’s charity.

As part of a Sanctuary’s employee volunteering scheme, the apprentices spent two months filming, producing and editing a promotional film for the disability charity Worcester Snoezelen which offers multi-sensory and creative activities for people with a diverse range of needs.

After visiting the charity to understand what Snoezelen does, the group spent a week filming some of the key facilities, including the hydrotherapy pool, sensory rooms and soft play area in order to create a visual tour.

As well as gaining production and camera skills, the apprentices, who work in roles varying from finance to business support at Sanctuary, were able to try their hand at using complex IT equipment and software to edit the film, which was debuted at a special event attended by representatives of the charity and Sanctuary.

Jane Roberts, Worcester Snoezelen’s chief officer, said: “We were absolutely thrilled to see the hard work and dedication the apprentices at Sanctuary Group had put into making this film for us and the end result was fantastic. The film itself was great and everyone here at Worcester Snoezelen would like to say a massive thank you to those involved in the project.”

The employee volunteering scheme has been developed as part of Sanctuary’s commitment to employee development and gives staff the opportunity to volunteer for placements in the Group’s different business streams and with partnering organisations.

Sarah Poyner, a Sanctuary apprentice who took part in the project, said: “I am very grateful for having the opportunity to help create the videos for Worcester Snoezelen because it is such a unique and wonderful place. It is a relaxing and fun environment and the staff members care a lot about their jobs.

At the end of the screening the apprentices were each presented with a ‘Certificate of Appreciation’ to thank them for giving their time to support the community.
