Go wild and free for a day of fresh air and fun at Gheluvelt Park

Worcester Editorial 25th May, 2016 Updated: 19th Oct, 2016   0

WORCESTER residents are invited to make a beeline for Gheluvelt Park for a series of nature-themed activities this half-term.

Joining forces with staff from The Pump House Environment Centre, Worcestershire Wildlife Trust will offer a range of free activities on Tuesday, May 31 for children and adults to learn how to turn gardens into havens of nature and to lend a helping hand to urban wildlife.

There will also be a chance for visitors to create bee hotels as well as learning about the newts and slow-worms that live alongside us in gardens.

A miniature trail around The Pump House garden, which is usually closed off to the public, will provide children with an ideal opportunity to discover minibeasts and enjoy the park in all its hidden glory.

Hannah Thomas, Engagement Officer for the Trust, said: “This event is particularly special as we have unprecedented access to The Pump House wildlife garden, meaning both children and adults can experience the beauty of the park and can appreciate all it has to offer.

“There will be plenty of information on offer for all ages as well as lots of activities, so I encourage parents to bring along their children for a guaranteed day of fresh air and family fun.”

The open event will commence at 11am with activities rounding off at 4pm. Participants of all ages are welcome to attend and activities are free but donations will be welcomed.
