New Waitrose swamped by job seekers

Worcester Editorial 2nd Apr, 2016 Updated: 19th Oct, 2016   0

MORE than 700 people have applied for 120 jobs on offer at Waitrose’s new store in Worcester in just one week.

The supermarket giant has already received 778 applications for the new roles at the London Road store, with jobs ranging from customer services, to hospitality and supermarket assistant positions.

Due to the overwhelming response to the recruitment drive, some vacancies have been temporarily removed from www.jlpjobs.com to allow time for the recruitment team to filter through the applications received.

The store is due to open its doors in the summer.

Sarah Duncan, Waitrose recruitment manager, said: “We have been overwhelmed by the interest in joining our business with around six people applying for every job within just a few days.

“Vacancies will go live again on Wednesday, but we would encourage people to apply quickly should they wish to do so, following the response so far.”
