YOUNGSTERS from a Worcester school enjoyed a visit from members of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) and Worcestershire Wildlife Trust.
Children from Perry Wood Primary and Nursery School recently ended a nature project with a visit from RSPB event officers Patrick Jones and Margaret ?Winwood?, who shared their wildlife knowledge with the school’s staff,? ?pupils and families?.
The event was the conclusion of a homework project that had given all children in the school the opportunity to take part in the nationwide RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch.
Jane Sedgeley-Strachan, project officer at Worcestershire Wildlife Trust, also visited the school to give children ?wildflower seeds to plant at home.
“Worcester is inspiring residents and visitors to protect, increase and make the most of the wonderful wildlife here,” said ?Ms Sedgeley-Strachan.
“We’re a Heritage Lottery-funded project focusing on the species and habitats for which the city and county are nationally important. These include slow-worms, great crested newts, meadows, wildflowers, old fruit trees and orchards.? ?It has been very worthwhile to visit Perry Wood and speak to some very interested students and their families.”
