A WORCESTER housebuilder has dug deep and pledged £500 towards the restoration of a much-loved Victorian clock at a Barbourne church.

The donation will contribute towards a campaign led by the Friends of St George’s Church charity group, which is aiming to raise £15,000 with its ‘Can You Spare Us Just a Minute’ campaign.

The charitable body is appealing for Worcester locals to sponsor a minute on the clock for a minimum donation of £10, linking to a memorable time which has a personal meaning to them, such as the time they were born, got married, or had children.

Michael Silvey, chairman of the Friends of St George’s charity group, said: “We’ve been fund-raising for eight months now, and have reached just over £11,600 to date thanks to the kind donations from Worcester locals and businesses alike.
