LOTTERY operator Camelot has confirmed they’ve received a ‘valid claim’ for the £33million jackpot from a city resident.

The lucky ticket holder has chosen to remain anonymous, meaning no further details will be revealed about the jackpot winner.

The news brings an to end a week of Lotto fever in the city, which began last Thursday (January 21) when Lottery chiefs confirmed Worcester was the home of the second winning ticket following January 9 bumper £66million jackpot.

The operator also confirmed the winning ticket had not been lost, stolen, destroyed or damaged – ruling out the possibility a local resident named by other media organisations had scooped the jackpot.

A National Lottery spokesperson said: “We’re delighted that the winner of this amazing prize has now come forward and we hope that they will enjoy their win.

“It would have been awful if the ticket-holder had missed out on this substantial and life-changing amount of money.

“We would like to remind all National Lottery players to check their tickets every time they play.”
